Concrete Floor Installation in Manhattan Beach CA - A Slab Planned for Your Covering
Cracked, uneven or sinking floor? We dig out and pack the base, then pour and finish a level slab you can plan your room around.

Planning a concrete floor installation? Here's what to expect in Manhattan Beach

Concrete floor installation in Manhattan Beach usually starts with a garage, room or addition where the old slab has cracked, sunk or never sat level. Much of that comes from the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, so the first part of our work is digging out soft dirt and packing a firm base.
The price depends on the size of the room, how much old concrete comes out, how much base work the ground needs and whether the slab gets rebar, the steel that helps hold it together. When the budget is tight, please don't cut the base first, because nobody sees it on day one and it's what keeps the floor flat.
The schedule depends mostly on two things. One is whether the city has issued any permit the job needs. The other is curing, the time the concrete needs to harden before the room goes back to full use. Your written estimate spells out what's included for your room, so you can plan around it.
You can count on straight answers about what concrete normally does and what your floor needs, so please call (424) 452-9329.
Concrete floors for garages, rooms and additions
We plan each floor around what goes on top and how the room gets used, because that decides how much base work it needs and whether the slab gets rebar.
Garage and workshop floors
These slabs carry cars, tools and heavy shelving, so we look hard at the base and talk with you about whether rebar belongs in the slab.
Floors under a covering
When tile, wood, vinyl or carpet goes on top, we ask about it before anything else, because the covering decides where the moisture barrier goes.
Bare finished floors
A bare concrete floor shows every flaw, so we take extra care with the finish. We also place the control joints, the shallow cuts that give cracks a planned line, where they'll look tidy.

Why homeowners choose Manhattan Beach Concretefor floors built from the ground up
Working with us is plain and unhurried. We explain each step before it happens and give a short reason for it, so you know what comes next.
The owner comes out and stays involved
I come out to look at your floor and give the estimate myself. I stay involved until the job is finished, so you talk to the same person from start to finish.
Our own crew does the work
Our own crew does the forming, pouring and finishing, so the people working on your floor answer to me and set forms the way I was taught.
Building flatwork since 2020
We've been in business since 2020, mostly on flatwork, the flat slabs of floors, driveways, patios and walks. The same care goes into our concrete steps and pool decks.
Licensed and insured for your job
We're licensed and fully insured. Please ask about both at the estimate so you can check before you hire anyone.
Prep finished before the truck comes
The forms are set straight and the base is packed before any concrete arrives, because concrete doesn't forgive a rushed job and a nice finish can't hide poor prep.
A written concrete floor estimatefrom the owner, on site
Please tell us the room size in square feet and the covering you plan to use, and we'll reply within one business day. I'll then come out for a free on-site estimate with no pressure and no obligation, and you'll get it in writing.
How your floor job runsfrom first call to walkthrough
We keep it simple by explaining each step before it happens. The written estimate tells you what's included, so you know what's coming before pour day.
Call or send the form
Please call (424) 452-9329 or send the form with your room size and covering plans, and we'll set a time for me to come out and see the room.
I look before I measure
I look at the room and listen to what you need before I take a single measurement. Then you get a written estimate that says what's included.
We plan the floor with you
I show you where the joint lines will fall and ask about your covering so the moisture barrier goes in the right place. Then we handle the permit side and set a pour date.
Forming, pouring and finishing
Our crew forms, pours and finishes within the city's construction hours, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturdays. The city doesn't allow construction on Sunday. We come back soon after the pour to cut the joints, so please keep the room open for us.
Walkthrough before we leave
I check the work as it goes. Before we pack up, we walk the finished floor with you, so you can look it over and ask questions while we're still there.
Concrete floor questions
Will my new concrete floor crack?
Some cracking is likely, because even a well-designed, well-built floor isn't realistically free of cracks or curl, which is when the slab edges lift a little. What we can do is give the cracks a planned line with control joints. Concrete guidance says those cuts should usually be made within 4 to 12 hours of the pour, depending on the heat and the mix, so we plan to get back in soon after.
How much does a concrete floor cost in the Los Angeles area?
A concrete slab in the Los Angeles area usually costs about $7 to $14 per square foot. That's the going price for slabs in general, not for interior floors alone. A reinforced slab costs more per square foot than a plain one, and your written estimate gives the figure for your own room.
Does Manhattan Beach require a permit before concrete work starts?
When a job needs a permit, Manhattan Beach doesn't allow any work or inspections until that permit has been approved and issued. The city's permit list names decks, pools and most excavation rather than concrete floors, so please ask the city's building department whether yours needs one. Where it does, we prepare and file it for our part and set the pour date after approval. If an old slab comes out, we also plan for the city's rule that demolition waste be recycled.
How long does a new concrete floor take to cure?
Concrete takes about a month to fully cure, though a new slab should be walkable within 48 hours. To be safe, wait about a week before moving heavy furniture or equipment onto it. Plan the room's full return to use around the cure, not the pour day.
What is the best way to protect flooring over a new concrete slab?
Concrete floor guidance says coverings and coatings get the most protection when the moisture barrier sits in direct contact with the slab. So please tell us what's going on top before we pour, because the barrier goes in before the concrete and can't be moved afterward.
Does a concrete contractor need a license in California?
Yes. California requires a license for concrete work, even for a job under $1,000 if it needs a permit of any kind. The state counts forming, pouring, placing and finishing flat concrete as concrete contracting, so a floor falls under it. Please ask any contractor you're considering for their license before you sign.
